OF A NEW
FEENCH EDUOATIOML COÏÏESE.
The study of modem languages has during the last few years entered upon a new stage of development in English Schools, and been thoroughly revolutionised by the progress of modem science. The natural conséquence of this movement at once to supersede the time-honoured grammars of Hamel, Lévizac, Wanostrocht, &c. ; even Noël and Chapsal had to relinquish their claims, and a gênerai demand sprang up for new educational works, in connection with the teaching, more partiCularly, of French. It is for the purpose of meeting this desideratum that Messrs. Hachette have issued the séries of Works, the list of which is appended, and which, taking the pupils from the nursery, lead them gradually on till they are qualified to compete for scholarships and exhibitions at the Universities.
