1. 23. des sphinx égyptiens. ' Sphinx ' is the name applied to certain personages figuring in Egj^ptian mythology, generally represented by the body of a lion with the head of a woman. The most fanious monument of a sphinx is the Great Sphinx at Gizeh, but smaller figures are found elsewhere in Egypt.
