TRADUCTION EN FRANÇAIS

Jean Bridelle is a bachelor. He is fifty years old. Rather sad and dreamy, when he was young he did not care for noisy companions. He used to rise early, and often went for a walk alone. One of his greatest delights was to walk in the Luxembourg. One used to encounter bees all along the way. He used to sit down and read. Sometimes he noticed that he met a strange little old man face to face. One morning this old fellow began to dance. From that day forward Jean never lost sight of him, and spoke to him often. Later Jean was presented to his wife, a little old woman dressed in black. As he looked at them his soul stirred with an unspeakable melancholy. There are certain secret sorrows, Jean explains, that are all the deeper because they seem mild.
