In selecting thèse pièces of French Poetry for the nae of Ghildre» between seren and twelre years of âge, I hare ever had in view the parity and simplicity of the liang^ge. Notes hâve been thonght to ba saperÎQaonB. Those nsing the book will notice how carefal I ha,ye been not to saorifice art for the purpose ci soitiDg the olass of children for whom the book is intended. Most of the pièces, whether narratiTea, &bles, er subjective efiosions, contain moral leeRons inculcating in the leamer pnnciples of honesty, probity, trnth, or gratitade towards Ood.

Graduated French Beaders.
TES ELEMENTAB7 FBBNOH BEADEB. A coUeotion of flhovt interesting and instrnotiYe stories for beginners, adapted for nm in Middle-Glass Schools, &o,, with a complète French-Englûdi Vocabalary. Edited hj Elphéob Janau, French Master at Blaokheath Proprietary Sohool. New Edition. Prioe 8d.
At the reqneet of several leading members of the Scbolastio Profession, I haye undertaken to compile an Elementary French Beader, saitablei am account of its price and contents, to Middlo-Glass and other Schools. The matter contained in this book will afford ample scope for the teacher to exercise his pnpils in conversation and elementary translation, while the bold type choeen will make it more pleasant to read.
The Yocabalary gives eyery word in the tezt, the plnral of nonns and adjectiyes (when formed otherwise than by the addition of s), and the féminine of ail adjectives, thns avoiding the use of a dictionary. For purposes of référence, I hâve added a list of regalar and irregnlar Terbs.
I trust this little volume will answer the purpose I had in view when oompiling it^ and meet with the approbation of Teachers.
