2. On examinalion of papers found, had not declared as having sailed from anywhere since the 26th June.
3. Found conccaled on board one Hamis Neaketa, who stated at Rrst he was free, and afterwards admîtted he was a slave of the wife of Shérif Abadi, awell-known slave-dealer.
4. Found the dhow was registered as belonging to Shaib-bin-Juma, but the captain and Kombo, one of the crew, stated the owner of the dhow is Shérif Âbadi.
5. The captain of the dhow refuscd to say how long he had been anchored at Chapaka (the place where l boarded her), or when he arrived.
6. The a Thruh's » interpreters obtained a free boy, named Yusuf-bin-Alim, who stated that the dhow landed him at Hatumbene in a rice bag about the 9th July, and that he was stolen from the beach at Zanzibar by Shérif Abadi, who locked him up in a house at Maiindi (Zanzibar).
7. Jabu stated he had scen Hamis Neakela steal slaves in Pemba about three times, and ship them in Abadis* dhows.
8. The master and ail but two of the crew jumped overboard and swam to the shore at Ras Tadowna from the dhow after détention.
