40. Six-vintgs=:M.F. cent vingt. It is a survival of the method of counting by multiples of twenty. We say still quatre-vingts, and Quinze - Vingts, name of a hospital founded by Louis IX. for 300 knights whose eyes had been put out by the infidels.
