l'humide radical, d'après la méthode du caporal Trimm

Corporal Trimm, the servant of Uncle Toby, iii. Sterne's Tristam Shandy. Mr. Shandy says : *' the whole secret of health dépends on the due contention betwixt the radical heat and radical moisture within us/' and corporal Trimm, in his own fashion dilates on the thème: "The radical heat and moisture of a private man is nothing but ditch-water and a dram of geneva; give us enough of it and we know not what it is to fear death."
