of the Holy Church, to congratulate you, in the name of the Irish Orphans of St Bridget’ Asylum, on this your golden jubilee, the fiftieth anniversary of your ordination to the holv priesthood, The children of St Patrick, your Eminence, have ever been to the front in showing their devotion to the Holy Church ant in giving expression, both by world and deed, to their love and veneration for the prelates and elergy of the Catholic Church ; we would therefore prove ourselves unworthy of our ancestry as well as unworthy of the charitable support of these same children of St Patrick, did we not, on this solemn occasion emulate their noble qualities. We therefore congratulate vou, venerable and beloved Prelate, in being spared to celebrate vour golden jubilee, We congratulate vou also on the dignified and honorable position vou hold among the prelates of the chureh. We thank God for all the blessings and favors Ie has conferred upon Your Eminence and for the blessings He has bestowed upon us through vou. We thank vou for vour unvarying kindness to us, poor orphans. We will always entertain in our hearts, a tender and gratiful love for you ; and now we promise Your Eminence, love, reverence, and obedience, We pray that God may bless Your Eminence with many more vears of health and strenght. May each coming day be one of pure joy and happiness to you ; and may they add new diadems to your immortal crown, May the holy Angel of God receive this the prayer of St Bridget’s orphans, and carry it before the thronc of God, that the fulness of divine blessing may descend upon vour venerable head : that vou may, one day, receive from thé hand of God the victors crown of immortal glorv, and deserve to hear those words of praïse and commendation : Welt done, thon good and faithful servant enter
