The only objection that can be made against me is that when arriving hère I did not consent to boycott Drs Schroeder and Pohle.

I wanted to be in good terms with ail, but that was impossible when it was shown that I was not an enemy to thèse gentlemen. I hâve nota character to...(2) to menaces and I acted according to my conscience,

In order to punish me, I was boycotied myself. Although a member of the Committee of the Bulletin, I ignored everything about it and had to support the most odious mocqueries for several monîhs. I hoped that after the first issue, the men who had been so narrow-minded would understand their wrong and make an honorable proposition to us. They went farther than ever. My dignity ordered me to keep aside and I did.

Nevertheless I behaved myself always as a gentleman and as a priest, addressing those who would not even answer me and speaking to ail.

At the end the élection of the Dean took place. I protested against the nomination of Drs Pace and Quinn who were already members of the new faculiy, They wanted to vote for the appointment of the ofRcers of this year. This was unjust. I left the room. I could hâve appealed against the injuria and we would hâve had a regular élection, but for the sake of peace I suffered ait.

I do not want any scandai, but I must warn you that if something is made against me, the country at large and the Roman compétent congrégation will know what has been the spirit ofthis house, and 1 will do that, not in view

of the mean revenge, but for the interests of the Church.

I hope, nevertheless, that notbing such wîll be necessary, and that I will not be obliged for the honor of my name, and the defence of my interests, to enter a struggie which would prove disadvantageous for several, and for the great aiin we hâve in view in this institution.

Please do not lose my documents. I can want them again.
