VOCABULARY
In the French-English section of the vocabulary, it is intended to furnish ail needed information as to the inflection of words, while an effort is made in the Enghsh-French section to give quite full information as to the uses and constructions of words.
In the French-English section, it may be assumed that, unless otherwise indicated, nouns and adjectives form their plurals by adding -s, aside from those ending in -s, -x, or -z, which remain unchanged in the plural.
Unless otherwise indicated, adjectives form their féminine by adding -e, aside from those already ending in mute -e, which remain unchanged.
After regular verbs, there are indicated in parenthèses the conjugations to which they belong.
The principal parts of irregular verbs are given, as well as any peculiarities in the forms made upon them.
After the infinitive, then, the first singular of the future is given, if irregular, the stem thereof remaining throughout the future and the conditional.
After the présent participle are given any irregular forms of the plural of the présent indicative and imperative, of the imperfect indicative, and of the présent subjunctive. If an irregular first singular subjunctive is given, the stem thereof remains throughout, unless the first plural, having a différent stem, is also given. In this case, this latter stem will be used also in the second plural, the third plural having the same stem as the first singular.
After the fourth principal part, the first singular of the présent indicative, are given any irregular forms in the remainder of the singular of this tense, as well as in the second singular imperative, which normally is identical with the first singular of the présent indicative.
