THE LIBRARY OF SOCIAL STUDIES
Edited by G. D. H. COLE
THE volumes in this sériés are intended to be useful both to the general public and to the student The widespread interest which has been aroused in social questions, both from the historical and descriptive, and from the theoretical point of view, has led to a growing demand for simple and readable introductions to the various branches of social study, written by authorities whose scholarship is beyond dispute, and at the same time so conceived as to appeal to the “intelligent layman.” These books should be especially useful to classes and study-circles, which hâve long suffered from the lack of suitable text-books on social subjects. They will be thoroughly up to date, and will express for the most part the attitude of the younger génération of social students — the new schools of thought and action upon which the real burden of “Reconstruction” will fall.
