spirit bend to the king’s will ; he takes this much to heart, etc.

J5 7 — Aussi. The complété adverbial locution is aussi

bien, the fact is that, and besides, indeed. Aussi means also : vous aussi ; before an adjective or an adverb it is synonymous with autant or tellement : aussi populaire, as or so popular; when a conjunction it means “c’est pourquoi”: Il me priait de t’écrire, aussi le faisje, he begged me to write to you, therefore I do it. Aussi is now employed only in an affirmative sense ; the négative corresponding to it is non plus : I also dislike it, je ne l’aime pas non plus.

Remettez-vous, de grâce, for heaven’s sake compose yourself. Ne vous remettez- vous pas son visage? don’t you know his face again ?

12 — Du tout: At ail. Ne ... du tout, not at ail, never. Notice. — Que pensez- vous du tout, what do you think of the whole ? Il ne pense point du tout, he never thinks.

Most words ending in rt join the r to the folio wing vowel in pronunciation (not the t)
