Scène I

3. On leaving Dijon Armand had held a blind of vvhich the spring was broken.

4. That must hâve been very fatiguing, but the mother gave him chocolaté wafers to eat.

5. They meet one another in every hôtel, and Perrichon always cries out: "What a lucky chance!"

6. Daniel explains to his friend how he was able to leave Paris.

7. He has to be back {de retour) on the eighth of the following month.

8. Armand is restless and goes to meet the ladies without drinking his coffee.
