followed the methods discovered by M. Pasteur some forty years ago. There cannot be any doubt as to the emcacy of the new treatmeut, as statistics show that more than ninety per cent, of the patients recover.

Doctors from ail countries went to Berlin and Paris in order to study the new therapeutic agent. In the United States the New York Herald opened a subscription in order to raise money to prépare in America the new remedy, and the New York board of aldermen recently appropriated thirty thousand dollars for the préparation of antitoxin. Let us hope that Doctors Roux and Behring will soon succeed in finding an emcacious remedy for consumption and typhoid fever, towards which end their efforts are now directed.
