DENT'S SHORT
FRENCH READERSt
Edited by W. OSBORNE BRIGSTOCKE
Senior Modem Language Master at Berkhamsted School.
During the early stages of teaching a modem language, the texts read hâve to be of the simplest kind, specially prepared. Ordinary stories from French classical literature are unsuitable. Pupils, however, who hâve gone carefully through Dentés First French Booh, and are taking the Second French Book, are ripe for reading extracts and stories from the Classics of French History or Literature, and Messrs. J. M. Dent & Co. are now supplying, at a nierely nominal price, well graduated and suitably edited texts of this kind.
Each volume contains footnotes in French and reform exercises on the text, while the Fourth Year Readers contain fuU références to books bearing on historical points, in place of historical notes. An opportunity is thus given to the teacher to read to the pupils carefully selected passages bearing on the text under discussion.

Roger.
Mme B. Cela me fait grand plaisir. Et vous
2 avez vu comment se fait le charbon 1
Bertie. Oui, cela m'a beaucoup intéressé.

Cam.
Maud. Ah ! très bien !
Val. Voilà la théière !
M. B. Soyons attentifs, surveillons cette opération !
Mar. Peut-on causer, Maud ?
