The will of Napoléon I. contains a référence to Ney complimentary enough in itself, but occurring in the extremely discreditable clause bequeathing 10,000 francs to Cantillon, who had been accused of attempting to assassinate the Duke of Wellington. It may hâve been this circumstance which occasioned the tristesse referred to. That the Emperor left them nothing can hardly be meant.
