DEARLY BELOVED BRETHREN,

In his first Eucyclical, His Holiness Pope Pius X, now reigning, declares that the only purpose of his pontifieate will be to restore all th ings in Christ, in order that Christ may be all and in all, for, all must. know or learn it, the return of nations to God will be brought about only through Jesus Christ. He invites bishops, priests, the faithful without any exception, to help him in attaining so desirable an end. If then we are truly disposed to work for the realization. of our common Father's wish, it first imports that we should, by serious study, acquire the knowledge of Jesus Christ. It is thereto that we wish to exhort you.
