After a long search in the library, she found what she was after. She took a book at random out of the collection and went off. However great her joys may hâve been since that time, they hâve not surpassed much in keenness those which she then experienced. While the curé was lecturing on history, .she was dreaming about the heroes of Walter Scott.

When the priest discovered that she was reading thèse novels, he promised to re-read them himself in order to talk them over with her. From that time on, they had a new subject for discussions and dispute, for of course they were never of the same opinion.
