2. M. Saint-Marc Girardin (1801). A French journalist and prof essor. After two visits to Germany, he published Notices Politiques et Littéraries sur l'Allemagne. He was appointed to the chair of literature at the Sorbonnô in 1834, and later on became a member of the Academy. He wrote différent articles in the Journal des Débats, and published some important works, among them Cours de Littérature Dramatique, Souvenirs et Réflexions politiques d'un four naliste. He died in 1873.
