In presenting this New Edition of " Scot's Recueil," the Editor thinks it proper to inform the Public, and especially Teachers, tliat he has feit it his duty to expunge some of the Pièces contained in the former Editions, which were justly objected to as improper to be put înto the hands of Youth, and to replace them by others, selected partly from Modem Writers, and better adapted to the Improvement of the Pupil.

The new OrthograpTiy has also been adopted, as most conformable to the Pronunciation of the Language ; besides, it is now generally used by the best Frenclî Authors. The Editor has carefully revised the Work ; and no pains hâve been spared to render it correct, and more deserving the superiority it has hitherto maintained as a School Book.
