arrived in Valence. Thank you with all our hearts. Since the beginning of the war, you have busied yourself in making life less hard, and now that your brothers are fighting at our side and dying for our beautiful France, you, working indefatigably — you clothe us with warm and pretty clothes.
We would like to thank you in some better way, but we are, Madame, only poor, grateful wounded, who like you very much.
Please be our interpreter to the women of your country. And be assured of our profound respects and our deep gratitude.”
