ACTIVE OR VOLUNTEER MILITIA COMPANIES

XXI. — The Active Militia of the Province in time of peace, shall consist of Volunteer Troops of Cavalry, field Ratteries, foot Companics of Artillery, and Companies of Infantry armed as Riflemen, to be formed at places to be designated by the Commander in Chief, but not exceeding in the whole sixteen Troops of Cavalry, seven field Batteries of Artillery, five foot Companics of Artillery, and fifty Companies of Riflemen: the total of such Volunteer Corps not exceeding five thousand Officers and Men.

CALLING OUT THE MILITIA

LU. — The Commander in Chief shall hâve full power to call out the Militia or any part thereof, whenever it shall In his opinion be advisable so to do, by reason of war, invasion or insurrection, or imminent danger of any of them.

LXVI. — The Militia so called out may be marched to any part of the Province, or

to any place without the Province bat conterminous therewith, where the encmy may be, and from which an attack on thls Province may be apprehended.

III. — La milice provinciale sera divisée en deux classes, la milice sédentaire et la milice active.

IV. — La milice sédentaire comprendra tous les habitants mâles de la province de l'âge de dix-huit ans ou plus et âgés de moins de soixante ans, non exemptés ou disqualifiés par la loi.

V. — Les miliciens sédentaires seront divisés en deux classes qui seront respectivement appelés hommes de service et hommes de réserve. Les hommes de service seront ceux qui seront âgés de dix-huit ans et plus, mais de moins de quarante ans, et les hommes de réserve seront ceux qui seront âgés de quarante ans et plus, mais de moins de soixante ans.
