VI. LICENSE IN ARRANGEMENT
1. The language of poetry among ail nations differs essentially from that of prose, and this différence increases as the thought and the form of expression ascends from the commonpiace to the sublime.
2. One of the chief déviations from the prose form is found in the liberty of modifying the order of arrangement required in prose.
3. In French this liberty, which makes one of the charms of its poetry, consists largely in inversion, a relie of the time when synthetic forms allowed inversion in prose.
