There is no verb in French which enters into the construction of more gallicisms than the verbe Faire. It is the French verb par excellence. The French, in fact, use it in so many ways that foreigners must find great difficulty in nnderstanding ail its différent meanings.

I hâve undertaken to coilect as many gallicisms as possible in which. the verbe Faire is employed, and with this object I hâve admitted not only those which occur in oor classical authors, but also such as are used in popuiar and conversational language.

As the course of reading folio wed by students of French is naturally not confined to the works of Corneille and Eacine, I think it is désirable to make them acquainted with those familiar expressions which they will constantly find in French books and newspapers, and will continually hear upon the stage.
