Chs. Baillairgé, Esq.
Dear Sir, — I bave been mucb interested in looking over tbe papers descriptive of your useful, valuable and (as it very plainly appears) universal application of a rule for the mensuration of solids. I sincerely congratula te you on tbe success which your discovery bas met with in ail quarters in which it bas at prisent been introduced. It must hâve been a great labour to work it ont to its présent state of perfection and you hâve the satisfaction of knowing tbat you are a benefactor aud stauncb pilot in that sea of difficulty, Geometry.
Y ours very sincerely, E. B. Barbeu.
High School, Québec, 8th Feb. 1872.
The rule is précise and simple, and being applicable to almost any vai'iety of solid, will greatly sborten the processes of calculation. I bave proved its accuracy as applied to several bodies.
The Tableau comprising a great variety of elementary models will serve admirably to educate the eye and must greatly facilitate the study of solid mensuration.
The Government would confer a boon on sbooTs of the middle and higher class by affording access to so suggestive a collection.
