14. avecque, an archaic form of avec. Ménage says that this form of avec had to be used before ail words beginning with a consonant except quelque and quelconque. However, this form does not seem to hâve been very longlived, for Corneille, in the latter part of his career, rejected it, and altered it to avec in many portions of his Works in which the word occurred.
