This is the most popular French Grammar on modem lines, but witb a judicious
admixture of the best features of the older methods. The exercises are continuous,
and the skilful manner in which the grammatical rules are enforced and illustrated is
universally admired. The book is a triumph for the inductive method, and it gives
sustained satisfaction whtrcver introduced. Especial help has been given in pro-
nunciation, and the exercises deal with topics of everyday life and make provision for
regular oral 3.% well as written practice.
The Shorter Course Exercises on Section II. of Heath's Practical French Grammar. Limp cioth, 6d.
Thèse Exercises bave been written in response to a demand from some schools which require a shorter course in grammar than that provided for in the original work. Thev are intended to furnish, within limited space, a thorough course of practice on the main points of grammar, without référence to finer distinctions or rarer constructions.
Alternative Exercises for Practical French Grammar.
Sections I. and II. 88 pages. Prepared by the Authors. Sewed, 6d. Thèse Exercises hâve been prepared by the authors of the Grammar for teachers who désire to vary the written work of their classes from year to year. They correspond in style, length. and degree of difficulty with those in the Grammar, and are based on the same French exercises, so that pupils in successive classes, or in différent sections, whi.'e studying the same French lesson in ail other particulars, may write différent yet équivalent exercises.

French Grammar, Section I. By J. E. Mansion, B.-ès-L. Sewed, 6d. Section II. Sewed, 8d. Keys, 3s. gd. net each, post free. Thèse Exercises are intended, in the first place, to supply variety and change of material wherever Section I. forms the basis of instruction for a period of two or more years. In the second place they are meant partly to lead up to, and partly to supplément, the exercises in the Grammar, and to enable the teacher to coiicentrate the attention of the class on any rule or paragraph which requires spécial attention and practice.

Jlie Références are to Heath's Practical French Grammar. " Nearly 130 extracts are chosen, carefuUy graduated, and valuable help is afforded in the translation of idiomatic phrases and constructions. The latter half of the book consists of really difficult pièces, mainly from English classical authors, and though net meant to be chosen as models of English style, yet the rendering of them into French will tax the intelligence of the advanced student to the utmost. At the head of each extract a few model sentences are given, bearing on the idioms in the pièce in which they occur. This is one of the best books on French composition we hâve corne across for some timc." — School.
