A FRENCH READER

By Anna Woods Ballard, M.A. , Diplômée de 1 'Association phonétique internationale, Assistant Professor of French in Columbia University, in charge of French in the School of Practical Arts, Teachers College, Columbia University.

Price $1.00 Like " BEGINNERS' FRENCH," the French Reader is based on the Direct Method. It consists of 38 selections in verse and prose from the works of such representative French writers as Lamartine, Victor Hugo, Balzac, Daudet, Lavisse, Soulié, Labiche, and Béranger, with a résumé of French grammar and a vocabulary. The book is made more useful as well as attractive by a map of Paris, eight half-tone illustrations, and a number of smaller line-cuts. Though primarily designed to be used in connection with or after " BEGINNERS' FRENCH," it may profitably be used with any other text.
