L’immortel Newton. Newton (1642-1727). one of the

greatest philosophers aud mathematicians, investigated among his many experiments the nature of light and the construction of télescopes. By means of a prism he was able to divide a ray of light admitted into a darkened room into its component parts, and to prove that “ rays of light that differ in color, differ also in refrangibility.”
