SUR LA PRÉSENTE ÉDITION DU CODE CIVIL, XXII
Montreal, October 8th, 18790, FE, Luf, de Bellefeuille, Exq., Advocate,
Dran sin,
I havo examinod with much interest, tho most important and very extensive part of your new edition of the Civil Code, which 1 ami glad to see is now ready for publication, and have pleasure in saying, that your caroful and judiclous roferences to the authorities on which the text of our Code is principally based, ro valuably and accurately intorpreted by the most valuable decisions of ou! Courts, with reference to such text and authorities, make your proposed publication in my judgment by far tho most valuable book of the kind yet pubiishoed on this subject to the Bench and Bar, as well as to the intelligent business man, I say intelligent because the book that makes evory man his own lawyer is nocessarilv of very doubtful general utility, A little learning, especially in legal knowledge, is a dangerous thing.
In tho present very imperfactly conimentated condition of the Civil Code, especially, the value of your book can hardly be exaggerated in view of the nacesaity of such a publication.
Trusting that your important work so far so thoroughly done may meet with such appreciation as will encourage and induce you to complete it,
I remain, very truly yours,
