Farandole, A rapid dance of various figures, very
much in vogue in southern France. In its main features it suggests a wild procession in which its participants clasp hands, forming a mone^ter chain sometimes composed of thousands of persons hopping and jumping rather than dancing, and singing ail the while. Daudet in his novel **Numa Roumestan" has given some masterlj descriptions of the Provençal farandoles.
