PRÈS L’UNIVERSITÉ MCGILL, À MONTRÉAL

“Mr. McGill was distinguished for his charity, his sound practical judgment and his kindness of heart ; he mixed much in society, both English and French, being connected with the latter by marriage. He died on the 19th December 1813, being sixty-nine years of age, in the city of Montreal, where he had resided ever since he came to Canada, and for his liberality, goodness of heart, and philanthropical munificence he left behind him a monument of his worth, which will assuredly carry his name down to posterity with honor and distinction.”
