69. 15. Henri IV, the most popular of ail French kings, was niurdered on the i4th of May 1610 by a fanatic namcd Ravaillac. He had granted to the Protestants the edict of Nantes, which gave them full religious liberiy, and by his constant efforts to restore the prosfjerity of the country deserved the title of Restaurateur de la France.
