Acte mortuaire—Certificate of death
72, Ses deux fils.—It seems as if this should be ses deux filles, though fils is found in the French editions, for nine lines farther on we find that the son had run away.
74, L'aura suivi— Must have followed him. Three and five lines farther we find auront livré, must have waged, and sera ressorti, must have gone out again. Notice this very idiomatic use of the future perfect, which will perhaps appear more clearly in the foïlowing : Où est mon couteau ?—Je l'aurai perdu--Where is my knife ?—3 must have lost it.
75, Sa grande tignasse en boudin—His great shock of hair done upin a cue. For tignasse see note to p. 15. Boudin means literally a kind of sausage, hence en boudin is applied to the cue on account of the way in which it is done up.
76. Lui recommande de ne pas oublier —Tell him to be sure not to forget.
