and be reduced to poverty ^ Does she prescribe upon him to spend days and nights in adoration and prayer ? Does she impose on him auatere practices, painful mortifications, frequent fasting ? Does she order him to retire in a solitude or desert to weep a long time for his iniquities ? No, the Chureh does not wish to subject the will of any of her children to such a trial; she requires only confession and communion with proper dispositions. si: xty visits to appointed churches, and short prayers according to the intentions of the Sovereign Pontiff. Such an extreme kindness should touch the heart i£. every one and transform the prodigal sons into faithful children, for the future. We trust that no Catholie of this diocese will neglect the grace of the Jubilee.

Wherefore, having invoked the Holy Name of God, we rule and order as follows :

The herewith translation of the Eneyelieal Zemporis quidem saert will be read and published on the first Sunday of Lent, the 24th instant.

20. The six months’ extension of the Jubilee will begin on the said first Sunday of Lent and will close on the 25th August next.

Jo. On the 23rd February, after the evening Angelus, the bells of all ehurehes and chapels of this diocese will be rung for a quarter of an hour at least.

At each visit one must pray according to the intentions of Leo XIII, that is to say, for the triumph of Holy Church, the extirpation of heresies, the concord of catholie princes and the salvation of the christian people. It will be sufficient for that purpcse to recite five times Our Father and Hail Mary.

On their behalf we reduce the number of days for the visits from fifteen to four. 200. All priests approved in this diocese for hearing the confessions of the different classes of people above enumerated enjoy the faculties mentioned in the Bull under the title: De Confessione Jubilaei.

210.
