2. canal de l'Yonne. The canal of Nivernais foUows the valley of the Yonne as far up as Corbigny. At tbat point it crosses to the valley of the Aron and foUows that stream to the Loire at Decize.

3. Morvan. A hilly, wooded country lying partly in the east of Nivernais. Its people are supposed from their appearance to be descended from the Huns, who invaded France in the fifth century.
