A PEW W0RD8 TO THE BJSADER.
The success of the î^.Be« cueil Choisi," and th^ help it has afforded to those désirons of acquiring the French language, are two fiuïts loilg since undeniably established.
Our task in canying the présent édition through the press has merely consisted of modemizing a tew antiquated and obscure passages amongst the extracts given.
By way of completing the work, we hâve thought it expédient to add a sélection of English Foems, both ancient and modem, and some few French ones by Amault, Emile Deschamps, Yictor Hugo, and Millevoye, to which we add two or three triflesof ourown; takingcare to place the French translations opposite the English poems, and the English translations opposite the French poems. Our object .
