To the Com, in Chief
Fort Lawrence, 12 novr. 1754.
' ' The 9th of this month, I received the enclosed letter, which if (whether) authentie or not, I think it my duty to transmit to you as soon as possible. Tho ' Capt. Scott by his more intimate acquaintanc« with Mr. Pychon and you yourself, Sir, from what he has informed you of him, must be a better judge of his intentions than I can possibly be or in the least prétend to, yet I cannot help suspecting his sineerity, and very often find great inconsistencies in his letters. I think, Sir, that I hâve good reason to believe that the letter he calls Mr. Duquesne's is of his own composing. . . "
