«We are not astonished to hear that it has met with the mcot flattoring réception." — School Board Chronide, March 10, 1877.

*< We hâve no hésitation in stating car opinion that no more nsefnl or practical inizodnction to the French langnage has been pnblished than ma/'—PvbUe Opinion, March 24, 1877.

" England is fortonate in the services of a small knot of French masters like M Ai. Maason and Brette, who hâve, alike by their teaching aad their school -books, done mnch for the scientifio stady of the langnage and literatare of France. After Baccessfiilly introdacing inte Bnglish form the * Public School French Grammar,' in which M. Littré*s researches are happily applied by M. Brachet se as to show the relation of modem French to Latin, MM. Brette and Masson hère translate and adapt the Petite or Elementary French Grammar. That has at once proved as popolar as the more elaborate treatise.'* — Edinbwrgh Daily Beview, March 20, 1877.

** Of this excellent school séries we hâve before ns the * Pnblic School Elementary French Grammar* — (1) Accidenoe, and (2) Syntax. Brachet*s work is simply beyond coniparison with any other of iis elass ; and its scientifio character is not sacrificed in the yery jadicions adaptation which has made it available for English stadents. — There m no hetter elementary French Orammar, whether for boys or for girls.**'^ Hereford Times, April 11, 1877.

'* Messrs. Hachkttk issue some yalnable contributions to their séries •f French Educational works. M. Auguste Brachet is well known aa •ne of the most scientifio and leamed of French philologiats and erammarians, and the practical ntility of his 'Elementary Frenoh Qrammar* is proved by the iact that the translation of it by the Bey. P. H. Brette, head master of the French School at Ghrist's Hospitid, aad Mr. G. Masson, assistant master at Hairow, has already reaohed a fla«ftbd •dition.*'-^!^ Seetsman, April 10, 1877.
