Having seen Art. 17, 18, 19, 608, and 807 of the Cicil Code. With referencé to an official Note addressed by the Government of His Hellenic Majesty to His Excellency the Ambassador of Her Britannic Majesty at Athens, dated 17/29 November 1855, stating that in Greece no law militates against the right of Ionians to inherit the property of à Greek or a foreign subject, whether abintestate or in virtue of Testarnentary dispositions, and requesting that the same right may be conceded to Greek subjects in the lonian States, on the basis of reciprocity ; |

Having read the official commuaication of the Secretary to His Excellency the Lord High Commissioner, dated 11 March 1855, transmitting to the Senate the abovementioned Note, together with the Report ot the Attorney General thereon ;

Ô ὑπογεγραμμένος ὑπουργὸς τοῦ Β. Οἴκου καὶ τῶν ἐξωτερικῶν σχέσεων τῆς A. Ε. τὸν K. ἐπὶ τῶν Εξωτερικῶν ὑπουργὸν τὴν À. M. τῆς Βασιλίσσης τῆς ἱστπανίας, ὅτι δυνάµεν τοῦ ἀπὸ 93 Ιουλίου (4 Αὐγούστου) B. Διατάγματος à ἡλληνικὴ Κυέέρνησις θέλεί ἀφομοιοῖ τὸ ἱσπανικὰ πλοῖα πρὸς τὰ ἐγχώρια ὅσην ἀφορᾷ τὰ ἀνωτέρω μνημονευθέντα. δικαιώ-κατα, ἐπὶ τῇ ἐπὶ τοῦ ἀντικειμένου τούτου ἆμοιθαιότητι ἐκ μέρους τῆς ἱσπανικῆς Κωθερνήσεως. Δύνανται δὲ αἱ δύο ay νάµεις ν΄ ἀποτύρωτι τὴν παραγώρησιω ταύτην, ἐὰν αἱ περιστάσεις το ἀπαιτήσωσιν, εἰδοποιρῶσαι περὶ τούτου ἀλλήλας ἕξ μῆνας προτοῦ.

ον PARTIE. — ESPAGNE. 613 It is resolved:

ο 4. From and after the 17/29 November 1855, the subjects of His Hellenic Majesty, shall, on the basis of reciprocity, acquire the right of inheriting the property of an Jonian or a foreign subject in these States, whether abintestate or in virtue of Testamentary dispositions, and in such cases they are hereby empowered to exercise those Civil Rights which are grauted to Ionians in Greece by the Laws of that Kingdom.

2. The presend shall be printed, published, and transmitted to the proper authorities for due execution.
