WRITING FRENCH

1. Students are expected to copy very carefully every one of the forty EXERCISES (Exercices) provided for each lesson.

2. IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS, to be written out, as directed, are given on p. 237-242, in connection with each lesson.

3. IRREGULAR VERBS required for this course are to be written out in full, as directed on p. 32-35, and as laid down in connection with the forty lessons of SCENES CANADIENNES. (See p. 243)

FRENCH GRAMMAR

A certain number of questions on grammar, related to the forty lessons, are intended to acquaint the students with some ESSENTIAL

FACTS necessary to the proper grasping of ordinary French sentence construction. Those questions, however, ought not to interfère with the main object of the course which is actual practice in the French language, orally and in writing. (See p. 244-249, No. 1-40.)
