LE MESSAGE DU TRES HON. MACKENZIE KING

Ottawa, Oct. 28, 1922.

Hon. Senator Turgeon,

Bathurst.

Please accept my heartiest congratulations upon your appoii ment to the Senate which has just received the approval of His Excellency. I am sure that had Sir Wilfrid Laurier been spared, it would bave given him a great personal pleasure to hâve lived to see this récognition of your lifelong dévotion to your country and the principles and policies of the party you hâve so loyally supported. My colleagues join with me in extending with our congratulations the best of wishes to Madame Turgeon and yourself.”

(Signed) MACKENZIE KING.

“Bathurst, N.-B.,

October 29th, 1922.

To the Right Hon. W. L. Mackenzie King,

Ottawa.

Your message received late last night. Words fail me to express my feelings of appréciation and gratitude for my appointment to the Senate of Canada, for which you secured the approval of His Excellency yesterday evening. My gratitude will be everlastingly equal to your thoughtfulness. You say, had Sir Wilfrid Laurier been spared be would bave been pleased to see this récognition of my lifelong dévotion to my country and the principles and policies of the liberal

party. I am sure his soûl in heaven rejoices over the fact that his worthy successor has taken advantage of the first opportunity to hâve his wish realized. Madame Turgeon joins me in sincere thanks for your good wishes and those of ail your colleagues who hâve so generously assented to my appointment.

(Signed) O. TURGEON.
